Funeral Rites for H. C. Cody were held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Crooked Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Cody, age 92, passed away from this life on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at his residence in Lawrence County. Reverend David Caves and Reverend Robert Dunn officiated. Larry Davis and Rose Bruce provided the musical service and interment was in Spring Hill Cemetery. Saulters-Moore Funeral Home in Prentiss, MS was in charge of all arrangements. Pallbearers were: Daryl Cody, Danny Earl Cody, Jimmy Dickerson, Scott Smith, Mike Cody, Steve Cody, Vander Turnage, and Zane Armstrong and Chad Hancock. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were: Mary Algina and Tabatha Cody. Harold Cleford “H.C.” Cody was born on September 28, 1924 in Shivers to Oliver Cleveland “Cleve” Cody and Bhalma “Bama” Tolar Cody. Mr. Cody was the retired truck driver for Camel 66. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and Crooked Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Cody was preceded in death by his mother and father; his wife Robinette Cody; 1 daughter, Linda Hancock; 1 step-son, Seth Thomas Dickerson; 5 brothers, Elwood Cody, Datis Earl Cody, J.C. Cody, L.D. Cody, and John Dale Cody; 1 sister, Ruby Hazel Kriger. Survivors are his wife, Chrysteene Cody of New Hebron; 1 daughter, Sandra Shuford of Marietta, GA; 2 sons, Harold C. “Bill” Cody of Mendenhall and Mike Cody of Baton Rouge, LA; 1 step-son, Jimmy Wayne Dickerson of Brandon; 2 step-daughters, Mary Elizabeth Algina and Rita Faye Dickerson, both of New Hebron; 1 sister, Jean Williams of Metairie, LA; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
