Velma Ward

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mrs. Velma Ward, age 85, of Prentiss, who passed away July 12, 2009 at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital in Prentiss. Internment followed at Ward Family Cemetery. Rev. L. C. Anthony officiated. Pall bearers were Christopher Ard, Gene Lee, Dennie McNease, Dakota Ard, Luke Laird and Mark Reid. Mrs. Ward, a native of Jefferson Davis County, was born on December 24, 1923, the daughter of Bob and Mae Wilson McNease. She worked as a seamstress with Edward Hyman for 24 years then later worked for The Thrifty Mart Store before retiring. She was a member of Dublin Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Ward of Prentiss; two sons, John Larry Ward and Jimmy Ward both of Carson; a sister, Grace Everett of Jackson; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchilden. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Riley Ward, her daughter, Shirley Bass, two granddaughters and one great-grandson.
