Lee Lavon Cole

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mr. Lee Lavon Cole, age 84, of Prentiss, who passed away July 2, 2009 at the Jefferson Davis Extended Care Facility in Prentiss. Internment followed at Society Hill Cemetery. Rev. Mark McArthur and Rev. L. C. Anthony officiated. Pall bearers were Dickie Cole, Jimmy Long, Tommy Langston, Randy Langston, Mitchell Harvey and Gary Fitzhugh. Mr. Cole a native of Jefferson Davis County was born July 27, 1924 the son of Owen and Gracie Deen Cole. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served on the USS Greer in the Philippines during World War II. He then worked as a Tool Pusher in the oilfield for more than 30 years before retiring. He was a Mason and a member of Oakvale Methodist Church. He is survived by his son, Johnnie Cole of Oakvale; three daughters, Lynn Taylor of Brandon, Kay Rogers of Monticello, Becky Jones of Prentiss; a sister, Ena Lois Long of Petal; six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gwen Cole, a brother and a sister.
