Funeral services with full military honors were held Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss, MS for SSG 1st Class E7 William Wesley Jones, age 38, of New Hebron, who passed away June 12, 2009 at University Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Internment followed at Mt. Zion Methodist Cemetery. Rev. Carroll Rippy and Chaplain Chuck Campbell officiated. Mr. Jones was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 21, 1971 the son of James and Lou Jones. Mr. Jones was enlisted full time with the United States Army. He served his country honorably for 19 years, 5 months, and 11 days. He served during Desert Storm, served two tours of duty in Iraq, served in Kosovo and served for two tours of duty in Germany. He loved horses and was a 1989 graduate of Prentiss High School. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Mendenhall, MS. He is survived by his parents, James and Lou Jones of New Hebron, MS; brother, Stephen Jones of New Hebron, MS; sister, Rachelle Walters of Prentiss, MS; two step-daughters, Cheyenne Sandifer and Jessica Sandifer both of Pulaski, MS; three nieces, two nephews; and special Aunt Betty Chism.
