A Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, July 05, 2016 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Bassfield, MS for Mr. Joseph Maurice Cavanaugh, age 70, of Bassfield, MS who passed away on June 30, 2016 at Forrest General Hospital, Hattiesburg, MS. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss, MS handled arrangements. Father Peter Kmiecik officiated. Pallbearers were Shane Berry, Ed Green, Scott Cavanaugh, James Luzenberg, Billy Cavanaugh, and Jacob Cavanaugh. Born on December 4, 1945, Mr. Maurice Cavanaugh was a lifelong resident of Bassfield, MS. He was the son of James and Mary Kirby Cavanaugh. He worked as a Lineman and Dispatcher for Pearl River Valley EPA for 35 years. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Mr. Cavanaugh is survived by one son, Joe Cavanaugh of Bassfield, MS; two brothers: George Cavanaugh of Bassfield, MS and Johnny Cavanaugh of Sumrall, MS; two sisters: Dorothy Divine of Canton, MS and Louise Burt of Silver Creek, MS; and three grandchildren.
