Wyndal Tingle

December 22, 1928 — April 2, 2016

Wyndal Hathorn Tingle was born on a south Mississippi cotton farm in 1928 to Louie Lee and Ona Polk Hathorn. She attended Carson, MS public school, Mississippi College for Women, and graduated from Southern Mississippi University in Hattiesburg, MS with a degree in education. She married John Thomas Tingle on September 1, 1948. She taught school for a few years in Richton and Purvis, Mississippi. She and John moved to Dallas, Texas in 1951, after John’s service in the Korean War, and eventually they settled in Richardson, Texas where they started a construction company. Wyndal served as company bookkeeper and together they built hundreds of homes in the area, before retiring to their farm in Weston, Texas. They later sold the farm and built closer to town, the home where she passed away. She was preceded in death by her parents Louie and Ona Hathorn; sisters Charel Hathorn Hulsey and Margaret Hathorn Saulters; brother O’Neal Hathorn; and her husband of 61 years, John Thomas Tingle. She is survived by her son John (Scott) Tingle and his wife Kim Peterman Tingle of Celina, TX; grandson John Denton Tingle and his wife Alyssa St. John Tingle and their daughters Marion Margaret (Maggie), Hattie Al’ Maude (Gogo) and Dorothy Francis (Doe) of Weston; grandson Braden Thomas Tingle and wife Leslie Parent Tingle, and their son Harrison Thomas Tingle, also of Weston. She is survived by many relatives in Louisiana and Mississippi, whom she dearly loved, and a host of close friends. Wyndal loved traveling with John, reading novels, working cross-word puzzles, bookkeeping, watching Celina Bobcat sports, and the Dallas Cowboys “of old”. She enjoyed regular ‘family nights’ with all the children, weekly visits with friends at her favorite dress and more recently the beauty shop in Celina. She always looked forward to playing cards with her special group, and an occasional trip to the casino. There was a memorial service to celebrate Wyndal at the First Christian Church in Weston, TX on Wednesday, April 6 at 7 pm. In addition, a visitation and graveside service was held in Prentiss, MS on Saturday April 9 at 1 pm at Saulters-Moore Funeral home. Pall bearers were: John D. Tingle, Braden Tingle, John Paul Saulters, Jeff Saulters, Jimmy Hulsey and Tommy Hulsey. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, in memory of Wyndal Tingle.
