Funeral Services were held Tuesday March 29, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church in Silver Creek, MS for Mr. Gerald Langston, age 91, who passed away on March 25, 2016. Interment is in Calvary Cemetery. Rev. Trey Spangler and Rev. Mike Sutton officiated. Pallbearers were: Dale Langston, Michael Melancon, Flint Hindman, Ellis Howell, Marty Martin and Ricky Martin. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Mr. Gerald was an Aviation Machinist’s Mate 2nd Class Petty Officer in WWII for the Navy. He was a service Manager for Sears in Peoria, IL before going to work at General Electric at the test site on the Apollo program. He built the first clean room for NASA. He was given an award by GE for inventing an acid delivery system for the nose cone of the rockets. He was a member of the school board in Mossville, IL for six years. He loved being a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family, gardening and square dancing. He is survived by his wife, Lyda Butler Langston of Silver Creek, his son, Gerald Langston, Jr. of Ormond Beach, FL, his daughter, Lynell Langston Melancon (Robert) of Spring, TX, three grandchildren, Monique Melancon Hindman (Flint), Michael Melancon (Melissa) and Travis Langston, two great grandchildren, Camille and Luc Melancon, two brothers, Thomas Edwin Langston of Mobile, AL and Buford Glyn Langston of Pearl, MS and his sister, Ina Louise Barr of Hattiesburg, MS, caregiver/nephew, Henry Bubba Bass (Hortence) and many more nephews and nieces.
