Robert "Bob" Fortenberry

Funeral services were held Monday February 29, 2016 at Saulters Moore Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mr. Robert Fortenberry, age 86, who passed away on February 25, 2016 at his residence. Rev. Richard Greene, Dr. French Tripp and Rev. Micah Rutland officiated. Pallbearers were: Clinton Fortenberry, Paul Fortenberry, Danny Lynn Daniels, Stuart Shoemake, Justin Phillips and Don Jones. Honorary Bearers were: Deacons of Old Silver Creek Baptist Church and the retired Southern Natural employees. Mr. “Bob” was born July 29, 1929. He was the son of William D. Fortenberry and Eva Stringer Fortenberry. He was an army veteran of the Korean conflict. He retired as senior assistant supervisor after working for 39 years at Southern Natural Gas. He was a mason and deacon of Old Silver Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Gwen Fortenberry of Prentiss, MS. Three sons, David Fortenberry of Prentiss, MS, William Fortenberry of Hattiesburg, MS and Lawrence Fortenberry of Maryville, TN. Eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren and his sister, Lillian Pace of Ocean Springs, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and four sisters.
