Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Santee Baptist Church in Bassfield, MS for Mr. Leonard Wilson Jr., age 64, of Bassfield who passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Regency Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. Internment followed at Santee Cemetery. Rev. Tony Bagley officiated. Pall bearers were John Magee, C. J. Graves, Jerry Graves, Joey Graves, Bob Snider, Jeremy Wilson, James Wilson and Tony Wilson. Mr. Wilson was born September 23, 1944 in Jefferson Davis County. He was the son of Leonard Wilson Sr. and Eula Saulters Wilson. He owned Wilson Heating & Air in New Orleans, La for 30 years before retiring in 1995 after a kidney transplant. He owned a champion race horse and enjoyed gardening and hunting. His servants heart and friendship will be truly missed by all those who knew him. He is survived by his daughter, Julie Barrett of Kenner, LA; a son, James Wilson of Metairie, LA; two grandchildren, Jeremy Wilson and Garth Barrett; four brothers, Larry Wilson of Abita Springs, LA, Kenny Earl Wilson of Rawls Springs, MS, Tony Wilson of Kenner, LA, Bobby Wilson of Prentiss, MS; a sister, Norma Jean Snider of Newport News, VA, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother- Lester Wilson and a sister-Minnie Wilson King. The family would like to extend special thanks to the many who prayed for Leonard and his family during this time. The family would also like to express their deep gratitude to the nursing staff of Regency Hospital for their tireless efforts. The staff exemplified what a hospital staff should be like. In honor of Leonard, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
