Blanche Elouise Jones

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mrs. Blanche Elouise Shoemake Jones, age 90, of Prentiss who died January 25, 2009 at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital in Prentiss. Rev. Carroll Rippy officiated. Internment followed at Phalti Cemetery. Pall Bearers were Matthew Bayles, Ethan Lee, Don Tidwell, Tommy Tidwell, Larry Shoemake and Harry Shoemake. Honorary Pall Bearers were Mark Shoemake, Richard Shoemake, Doug Shoemake and Shaun Shoemake. Mrs. Jones was born in Jones County on May 22, 1918 the daughter of Hilton and Sadie Shoemake. She worked as a Sales Clerk for JC Penney’s in Hattiesburg for a number of years. She was a member of Phalti Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Bill Staples of Prentiss; a brother, Paul T. Shoemake of Laurel; a sister, Nell Shannon of Gulfport; two granddaughters, Pam Lee and Rhonda Bayles both of Prentiss; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
