Earl J Hanegan

Funeral services were held Friday, January 23, 2009 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Bassfield, MS for Mr. Earl Joseph Hanegan, age 73, of Sumrall who died January 19, 2009 at his residence. Monsignor Joe Mercier officiated. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery. Pall Bearers were Pat Gibson, Pete Gibson, Justin Page, Aaron Gathbright III, Jeff Pierce and Shaun Hebert. Mr. Hanegan was born in Bassfield, MS on May 6, 1935 the son of Sylvester Hanegan and Anastasia Daley Hanegan. He worked for F&S Pre-Stress in Hattiesburg for 35 years as a welder. He was a veteran of the US Army and a member of St. Peters Catholic Church. He is survived by two stepsons, Leonard Mills of Hattiesburg, Jimmy Mills of Collins; two stepdaughters, Lorraine Davis of Hattiesburg, Sherry Scott of Wiggins; eight grandchildren; five brothers, Tim Hanegan of Boston, MA, Coleman Hanegan of Shreveport, LA, Sylvester Hanegan of Hermon, ME, Martin Hanegan of Council Bluff, IO, Alfred Hanegan of Sumrall, MS; and two sisters, Angela Gibson of Bassfield, MS and Cathy Hanegan of Rome, Italy. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife--Juanita, a sister and three nephews.
