Bettie Jean Turnage

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 20th, 2008, at Arm Baptist Church for Bettie Jean Turnage, age 78, of Arm, MS, who died December 18th at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Rev. Thomas Thurman, Rev. Johnny Bowlin, and Rev. Eddie Myers officiated. Interment followed at Arm Baptist Church Cemetery. Pall Bearers were: David Thurman, Marty Thurman, Dwight Thurman, Brad Beasley, Chris Thurman, Gregg Thurman, and Scott Daughdrill. Mrs. Turnage was born in Lawrence County MS on July 19, 1930, the daughter of Jake Thurman and Hilda Thomas Thurman. She worked as a seamstress for Kellwood Manufacturing for more than 30 years. She was a member of Arm Baptist Church. She is survived by a son--Mike Pritchett of Arm; daughters--Rosie Daughdrill of Silver Creek, Peggy Ballard of Hattiesburg, Margaret Beasley of Monticello; sister--Louise Davis of Arm; brothers--Rev. Thomas Thurman of Columbia, Dennie Thurman of Monticello and Jimmy Thurman of Monticello; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles Ralph Turnage, and a sister, Christa Thurman.
