Vera King

Mrs. Vera King, age 94, passed away at her home in the Santee United Methodist Church Community from colon cancer. She was lovingly cared for by her three daughters and they were by her side on a snowy day, December 11, 2008. She was married to George Corley King for 62 years and lived on their farm outside of Prentiss, MS. Mrs. King was well known for having owned and run King’s Sew & Save in Prentiss for 26 years. She was well respected and loved by all. She is survived by three daughters, Alma Polk, Iris Phillips, Sarah King, devoted son-in-law Jerry Polk; four grand children--Greg Phillips, Sherron Wigington, Rhonda Stein, Jeffrey Polk and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Alice King Graham, her husband and her siblings. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Santee United Methodist Church in Prentiss for Mrs. King. Internment followed at the Daniel King Family Cemetery. Rev. Charles Waddell and Rev. Tony Bagley officiated. Pall bearers were: Homer Graham, David Graham, George Davis, Lindey Jackson, Doyle McRaney and Danny Mitchell.
