Dennis Hilton "Tootsie" Dyess

Funeral services were held Wednesday February 25, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Greens Creek Baptist Church in Carson, MS for Dennis Hilton “Tootsie” Dyess who passed away on February 20, 2015 unexpectedly. Interment followed at Greens Creek Cemetery in Carson, MS. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss, MS was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. Charles Lee Loftin and Rev. Shelby Lynn Stephens officiated. Pall bearers were: Cecil Polk, Stasson Dyess, Sammy Dicks, Dale Dyess, Daryl Dyess and Marvin Smith. Dennis Hilton was born on December 3, 1941 in Jefferson Davis County. MS. He was the son of D. A. Dyess and Ruby Douglas. He worked as a welder for many years and was a member of local union 214 out of Jackson, MS. He was also a Vietnam veteran and was honorably discharged after achieving the rank of Sergeant. During his service for our country he was awarded the following badges and medals: Marksman badges for the M-14 and M-16, National defense service medal, Good conduct medal, Vietnam campaign medal, Vietnam service medal W / “1” campaign star, Two overseas service bars, Combat infantryman’s badge, Army commendation medal and a Bronze star medal. He is survived by three sisters Mary Stephens of Fleetwood, NC, Faye Speights of Mooresboro, TN and Mattie Polk of Prentiss, MS. One brother, Joe Terrell Dyess of Prentiss, MS.
