Joyce L. Hoover, age 74, of Brookhaven, died October 29, 2008 at the Silver Cross Home in Brookhaven. Services will be held Saturday, November 1, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Prentiss United Methodist Church. Internment will follow in Brady Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, October 31, 2008 beginning at 5:30 P.M. at Saulters-Moore Funeral Home in Prentiss. Mrs. Hoover was born August 4, 1934 in Jefferson Davis County, the daughter of William “Bill” Langston and Lorena Garner Langston. She was married to the former, Thomas R. Hoover of Prentiss. Together they owned and operated the Ritz Café and Hoover Furniture Store in Prentiss. She also worked in the office of Edward Hyman for several years. She was a member of Prentiss United Methodist Church, sang in the choir and served on numerous committees at the church. She was also a member of several civic clubs including the Prentiss Chamber of Commerce, Jefferson Davis Forestry Association, the Ruth Calcote Circle and the Ole Brook DAR of Brookhaven. She is survived by a daughter, Frances Phillips and husband, Jim of Brookhaven, one granddaughter, Heather Phillips of Brookhaven, a sister, Mildred Tyrone of Hattiesburg and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Edwin Langston.
