Velma Dykes Puckett

Funeral services were held Friday September 19, 2014 at Saulters Moore Chapel in Prentiss for Mrs. Velma Iduma Dykes Puckett, age 74, who passed away on September 15, 2014 at her residence in Prentiss. Interment followed at Greens Creek Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. Charles Burnham officiated. Pall bearers were, Tim Davidson, Robert McLeod, Bret McLeod, Timothy J. Davidson, Billy Davidson, Aaron Dykes and Mathew Owen Velma was born on May 3, 1940 in Carson, MS. She was the daughter of Hulon Dykes and Irma Prine. She worked as a paralegal in Jackson for 8 years and as a USM student relations counselor for 5 years. She was a member of the Temple Baptist church in Yazoo City. She is survived by her husband, Billy Puckett of Prentiss; her son, Tim Davidson of Georgia; her daughter, Dawn McLeod of Oakvale; thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; her sister Maxine Bryant of Petal and her brother, Lethell Dykes of Collins She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
