Jewell Laird Shivers

Funeral services were held Thursday September 11, 2014 at Bassfield Baptist Church for Mrs. Jewell Laird Shivers, age 89 who passed away on September 9, 2014 at Marion General Hospital in Columbia. Interment followed at Lowland Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. Ken Roberts and Rev. Charles Lee Loftin officiated. Pall bearers were, Eddie Breakfield, Jamie Shivers, Morgan Breakfield, Drew Shivers, Justin Shivers and Brad Humphreys. Jewell was born on June 5, 1925 in Bassfield, MS. She was the daughter of Guy Laird and Mary Broom. She worked as a medical records clerk at Jefferson Davis County Hospital for 25 years and also at Prentiss Motor Co. for a number of years. She was a member of Bassfield Baptist Church. She is survived by her son Ronnie Shivers (Deborah) of Bassfield, her son Terry Shivers of Bassfield, six grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
