Funeral services were held Monday, June 2, 2014 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Bassfield, MS for Mrs. Virginia Skinner Odom, age 69, who passed away on May 29, 2014 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Father Peter Varghese and Deacon Bob Everard officiated. Pall Bearers were Benjamin Coulter, Jacob Bullock, Josh Bullock, Johnny Parkman, Heath Skinner, Ernie Brewer, Chris Ryan Berry and Norbert Barrett. Virginia Skinner Odom was born on September 9, 1944 in Jefferson Davis County. She was the daughter of Noel Skinner and Agnes Daley Skinner. After moving to Houston, TX, she returned to her hometown of Bassfield in 1977. She was a homemaker and worked as a Poll Worker in Jefferson Davis County. She was also a member of St. Peters Catholic Church and served on the Altar Society. Mrs. Odom is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Coulter of Bassfield, MS; his sons, Kenneth Odom of Jacksonville, FL, Danny Odom and Robert “Bobby” Odom both of Bassfield, MS; her fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; her sisters, Eula Parkman of Oakvale, MS, Dorothy Barrett of Carson, MS and Agnes Keyes of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; and her brother, Harold Skinner of Petal, MS.
