Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mrs. Matilda Holder, age 87, of Prentiss, MS who passed away on May 9, 2014. Interment followed at Antioch Cemetery in Prentiss, MS. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. John Barnes, Rev. Butch Harmon and Rev. Jerry Corley officiated. Pall bearers were Pete Chisholm, Steve Corley, Jerry Corley, Joe Corley, Jeff Corley, Troy Miles, Jay Walley, Ken Holder and Daniel Norris. Matilda Rebecca Cowart was born on September 27, 1926 to James Wesley and Sarah Maude Cowart in Jasper County MS. She lived a full life and devoted her time to serving others. She was a faithful Member of Antioch Baptist Church where she was a member of the ladies Sunday School Class, WMU, volunteered to help with Vacation Bible School and taught children’s Sunday school classes. She worked at the Hickory Hut in Carson, MS for many years where she made many lifelong friends. She had a deep appreciation for beautiful flowers. Her yard was always a blooming bouquet. She loved to fish and could out-fish the best fishermen. She was married to Robert Holder for 28 years and was blessed with a large family, all of whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her children Pete (Connie) Chisholm of Hattiesburg, Fredna (Larry) Corley of Florence, Judy (Lynn) Corley of Richton, Dot (Jim) Miles of Prentiss, Kathy (Vernon) Terrell of Prentiss, Ruth (David) Durgin of Brooklyn, Kenneth (Charlotte) Holder of Ellisville, 22 grandchildren, and over 100 great and great-great grandchildren, one brother and one sister She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Holder, a son Jerry Chisholm, two grandchildren, one brother and two sisters.
