Graveside services were held Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Dublin Baptist Church Cemetery for Charles Edward Parker, also known as “Charlie” or “Chief Parker” who passed on to his next life on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Poplar Springs Nursing Home in Meridian. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. Robert Sones officiated. Pall bearers were John Humphries, Brian Bogard, Lynn Limerick, Ned McCormick II and Don Boswell. Born in Stringer, MS, Charles lived the majority of his adult life in Biloxi, MS working as a contractor. Charles served as the “Chief” of the Biloxi Auxiliary Police for approximately 20 years and also served as Constable of Beat 5 Harrison County. He served his country in the US Army and retired from the Army National Guard. His enjoyment came from his family, hunting & fishing and his gardening of which he was a master. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Cree Parker, his parents, Alvis & Earlene Parker and his brothers, James Howard, Clifton Parker and Spurgeon Parker. Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Harris (Lee) of Meridian, MS; his grandchildren, Parker Harris (Laura) of Brandon, MS and Robert “Bo” Harris (Deanna) of Clayton, NC; his great grandchildren, Hunter & Mary Harris and Hannah Wilson all of Clayton, MS and Lofton Harris of Brandon, MS; his sister, Christine Elrod (Colby) of Sunset, TX; and his brother, Mack Parker (Becky) of Stringer, MS.
