Funeral services were held Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mr. Joe Hollingshead, age 80, of Prentiss who passed away on October 10. Interment followed at Ellisville City Cemetery in Ellisville, MS. Dr. French Tripp officiated. Pall bearers were Brian Magee, Jack Magee, Robert Miller, E. Ray Daniels, Wilford Speed and Monty Magee. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Bennie Joe Hollingshead Sr. was born in Ellisville, MS on March 15, 1933. He was the son of Benjamin Franklin Hollingshead and Ada Ezell Hollingshead. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was in the food service industry for forty years and retired with Sysco Foods. He had owned restaurants in Columbia and McComb, MS. He loved raising dogs and had worked as a Field Trial Judge for beagles for close to fifty years. He was on the board of the Jefferson Davis County CDA, was a past President of the Chamber of Commerce and was a former member of the Prentiss Lions Club. He was an elder and a member of Prentiss Presbyterian Church. Mr. Hollingshead is survived by his wife, Diane Stringer Hollingshead of Prentiss, MS; his sons, Bennie Joe Hollingshead Jr. of Imboden, AR, and Ralph Edward Ham of Birmingham, AL; his daughters, Marsha Blakeney of Soso, MS and Monica Wicker of Laurel, MS; his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his brothers, Billy Hollingshead and Dr. Charles Hollingshead both of Ellisville, MS; and his sisters, Linda Galloupe of Alturas, CA, Mary Piper of Gonzales, LA and Barbara Terry of Glen Heights, TX.
