Honorary Pallbearers are Chris Cooper, Shane Folk, Dusty Lott, Macky Lott, Owen Lott, Tim Lott, Buddy Steverson, and Johnny Winn. Saulters Moore Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements. Mrs. Lott was born Beverly Jean Champion on September 27, 1945, in Portland, Oregon. She was the oldest of five children and lived most of her young life in New Orleans. She was a graduate of Rabouin High School in New Orleans and Jones County Junior College in Ellisville, MS. Beverly met her husband Charles through his sister, Earline Lott Walker and her husband, Rev. Jimmy Walker, with whom she spent much time during their time at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Charles and Beverly were married by Rev. Walker on October 28, 1966, and were soul-mates throughout their entire marriage. Beverly was a wonderful wife and mother, raising three children and remaining very active in any activities they chose to participate in. Beverly and her husband were very active at New Hebron High School, acting as band booster presidents for several years. Beverly was also actively involved in producing the school’s annual Halloween Carnival for many years. A long-time member of Old Hebron Baptist Church, she had served as secretary and treasurer of the church. Beverly was also employed as a student computer lab coordinator at New Hebron Attendance Center, and remained close friends with many of her fellow teachers at the school after retiring. Beverly was known for her hospitality, hosting many local bridal and baby showers in her home, and opening her home for open houses and church events often throughout her life. Her home was open to friends and family for coffee almost anytime. While her husband’s Christmas light display has become a beloved tradition in the area, Beverly’s holiday décor inside her home was also welcoming to family, friends, and her church for many years. She enjoyed traveling the country with her family, and was also a world traveler, visiting many countries with her husband, including living for a short time in Rome, Italy, and Singapore. While she was not born and raised in the Old Hebron and New Hebron community, she loved the people in the community like family and felt like a native daughter of the area. She also enjoyed time with her group of “lunch friends,” a group of women who she worked with at New Hebron Attendance Center, and cherished the time she spent with them. Beverly was a doting grandmother, and spent much of her time traveling to her grandchildren’s competitions, performances, and other events. She was a proud and long-suffering New Orleans Saints fan, cheering them on even during the many losing games she had to endure on Sunday afternoons. Beverly was preceded in death by her father, Fred Champion, Sr., and her sisters, Caroline Olivier and Gail Young. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Charles E. Lott, Sr.; Her mother, Juanita Wolfe; A daughter, Lynne Schneider (Edward); two sons, Chuck Lott (Karen); Glenn Lott (Christy); a sister, Nancy Herring; a brother, Fred Champion, Jr.; and nine grandchildren.
