Devina Mattie Whitfield

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mrs. Devina Whitfield, age 89, of Magee, MS, who passed away on June 27, 2013. Interment followed at Whitesand Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. Charles Burnham officiated. Pall bearers were Donnie Ross, Richard Lane, Tommy Jones, Eddie Jones, John Garner and Glynn Griffith. . A native of Mississippi, Mattie Devina Whitfield was born on January 11, 1924. She was the daughter of Jesse Cleveland Lane and Mattie Fortenberry Lane. She was a Dental Assistant for many years and a member of Whitesand Baptist Church. Mrs. Whitfield is survived by her son, Jimmy Whitfield (Valerie) of La Mesa, CA; seven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren and seventeen great-great grandchildren; her brother, J. C. Lane of CA; and her sister Mayneil Garner of Ocean Springs, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Barney Whitfield; her daughter, Jeraline Kallos and nine brothers and sisters.
