Funeral services were held for Mr. Sam H. Leonard, 84, of Mount Olive, on Monday, June 17, 2013, at the Mount Olive Presbyterian Church in Mount Olive. Mr. Leonard died Friday, June 14, 2013, at the State Veterans Home in Collins, MS. Interment followed at the Oakvale Cemetery in Mount Olive. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Reverends Joe Gardner and Tommy Shields officiated services. Pall Bearers were Mark Leonard, John Stewart, Tommy Bryant, Danny Bryant, Danny Waldrop and Joe Ladner. Honorary Pall Bearers were Chris Brister, Joe Leonard and Lynn McRaney. Mr. Leonard was a retired farmer and a member of the Mount Olive Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon. He also served in the United States Navy for two years during the Korean War. He is survived by a sister, Jean Bryant (Malone) of Collins; a brother, Wade Evon Leonard, Jr. (Annette) of Mount Olive; nieces, Barbara Brister of Collins; Susan Waldrop (Danny) of Mount Olive; nephews, Tommy Bryant and Danny Bryant (Kathe) of Collins; great nieces, Danielle Bryant and Bailey Bryant of Collins and Anna Morgan Grissett of Mount Olive; great nephews, Chris Brister of Collins and Andrew Waldrop (Brittany) of Magee; great-great nephews, Caleb Bryant of Collins and Ayden and Bryson Waldrop of Magee; and special caretakers, Hazel Pittman of Mount Olive and Betty Graves of Mount Olive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Wade Evon Leonard, Sr., and Mrs. Icy Frank Leonard and a twin brother, William G. Leonard.
