Rachel Ann Smith Jones

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Oakvale Baptist Church in Oakvale, MS for Mrs. Rachel Jones, age 81, of Oakvale, MS who passed away on May 4, 2013 at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg, MS. Interment followed at Oakvale Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. Eddie Myers and Rev. Randy Gardner officiated. Pall bearers were Wesley Daniels, Chet Myers, Justin Tidwell, Matthew Jones, Andrew Jones and Scott Tidwell. Mrs. Rachel Ann Jones was born on December 9, 1931 in Memphis, TN. She was the daughter of Alvin Reed Smith and Verna Ray Smith. She worked at Kellwood Manufacturing and retired as the Postmaster of the Oakvale Post Office. She was a member of Oakvale Baptist Church. Mrs. Jones is survived by her daughters, Betty Daniels (Darrell) of Columbia, MS, Wanda Myers (Eddie) of Oakvale, MS, Ann Brewer (Wayne) of Clinton, MS and Melinda Tidwell of Vidalia, LA; her son, Neal Jones (Melissa) of Monticello, MS; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; her brother, Lowery Smith of Orange, TX; and her sisters, Dorothy Gilbert of Montgomery, AL, Carol Tedford of Memphis, TN and Judy Smith of Ashville, NC.
