Charlie J. McAlpin

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mr. Charlie McAlpin, age 85, of Prentiss, MS who passed away on May 1, 2013 at his residence. Interment followed at Fellowship Cemetery in Taylorsville, MS. Rev. L. C. Anthony officiated. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. A native of Smith County, Charles “Charlie” Joe McAlpin was born on February 23, 1928. He was the son of Joe V. McAlpin and Earle Hankins McAlpin. He served in the US Army and was a veteran of World War II. He owned and operated McAlpin Refrigeration from 1950 until his retirement in 2010. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid quail hunter. He was a mason, a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and a member of Bethany Baptist Church. Mr. McAlpin is survived by his sons, Don McAlpin (Rhonda) of Janice, MS, Steve McAlpin (Charlene) of Prentiss, MS and Hank McAlpin (Alicia) of Brandon, MS; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and his sister, Maudell Laubach of PA.
