Funeral services were held Friday, February 15, 2013 at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mrs. Margaret Lee Hathorn Saulters, age 91, of Carson who passed away February 11 at her residence. Interment followed at Prentiss Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. Bobby Brewer, Rev. Allen Winstead and Rev. Glenn Shows officiated. Pall bearers were Scott Tingle, Jeff Saulters, John Roberson, Jeff Sudduth, Boone Roberson and Dennie Daley. Mrs. Margaret Lee Hathorn Saulters was born on January 23, 1922 in Carson, MS. She was the daughter of Louie Lee Hathorn and Ona Bell Polk Hathorn. She graduated from Carson High School in 1939 and was the Valedictorian of her graduating class. She then attended The Mississippi Southern College and graduated in 1943. She taught school from 1943 until her retirement in 1987. Some of the schools where she taught were Quitman High School, New Hebron High School, Silver Creek High School and Bassfield High School. She was elected as a “Star” teacher in 1970 while at Bassfield High School. She was a member of Carson United Methodist Church. Mrs. Saulters is survived by her sons, Wilbur Dale Saulters, Jr. (Dianne) of Hattiesburg, MS and John Paul Saulters (Becky) of Bassfield, MS; her four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; her sister Wyndall Tingle Weston, TX and her brother, O’Neal Hathorn of Carson, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wilbur D. Saulters, Sr. and a sister, Charel Hulsey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carson United Methodist Church.
