Funeral services were held Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Oak Grove Baptist Church for Mr. James R. Rogers, age 82, of Prentiss, MS who died Friday, December 28, 2012 at his residence after a lengthy illness. Interment followed in Oak Grove Cemetery. Saulters-Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Dr. Ken Stringer and Bro. Terry Wallace officiated. Pallbearers were Mike Rogers, Larry Rogers, Jack Berry, Jimmy Tynes, James Dale, Rex Burrow, and David Wigington. James Rogers, better known as Jimmy, was a native of Jefferson Davis County and was born on November 15, 1930. He was the son of S. L. Rogers, Sr. and Hilda Bozeman Rogers. Jimmy Rogers worked as a Supervisor for the Prentiss Telephone Company for over 42 years. He was a farmer and an avid hunter. He was member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Rogers is survived by one son, Rodney Rogers of Houston, Texas; four daughters: Nancy Coco of Jackson, MS, Elaine Bridges of Brandon, MS, Joyce Hall and Kathryn Langston, both of Prentiss, MS; one brother S. L. Rogers, Jr. of Prentiss, MS; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Doris Rogers.
