Cecil L. Smith

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Hepzibah Baptist Church in Oakvale, MS for Mr. Cecil Smith, age 86, of Oakvale, MS who passed away on September 20, 2012 at University Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Interment followed at Hepzibah Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. James Messer, Rev. Darryl Daniels and Rev. Dan Hodges officiated. Pall bearers were Bobby Smith, Daniel Smith, Tommy Saul, Keith Polk, Kevin Polk and Austin Hamilton. Honorary pall bearers were Alfred Laird, Raymond Buffington, Carl King, Terrell Smith, Monty Sanders, Harlon Ward, Alan Ashby, Johnny Jordan, Bud Russell, Harold Polk and Danny Hamilton. A native of Jefferson Davis County, Cecil Loyd Smith was born on October 1, 1925. He was the son of Daniel Jasper Smith and Eunice Jackson Smith. He served in the US Army and was a veteran of World War II. He worked on the pipeline as a supervisor for more than twenty five years. He operated the Music Barn for a number of years and was a Mason. He was also a member of Hepzibah Baptist Church. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Alene Smith of Oakvale, MS; his sons, Mike Smith (Teresa) of Monticello, MS and Kenneth Smith (Pam) of Oakvale, MS; his daughter, Shelia Ward (Mickey) of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and his sister, Bonnie Hamilton of Prentiss, MS.
