Funeral services were held Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mr. Boyd Hatton, age 83, of Bassfield, MS who passed away on August 23 at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach, FL. Interment followed at Wilkes Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Father Mike Kelleher officiated. Pall bearers were Jack Morton, Louis King, Billy Delaney, Doyle McRaney, Dennis Porter and David Kean. A native of Jefferson Davis County, MS, Boyd Steven Hatton was born on November 2, 1928. He was the son of James Ira Hatton and Ollie Mae Shivers Hatton. He was an Army veteran. Throughout his lifetime, he tried many different careers. He was a watermelon farmer, a truck driver, a sewing machine mechanic and worked as a Mud Logger in the oilfield. He was an avid fisherman, liked flea markets and was an accomplished wood carver, primarily of duck decoys. He was also a member of Ducks Unlimited and was a Mason. Mr. Hatton is survived by his sons, Dr. Nick Hatton of Ormond Beach, FL and Tony Hatton of Bassfield, MS; four grandchildren and his sister, Millie Jane Smith of Los Angeles, CA.
