Jessie E. Bates

Funeral services were held Friday, July 27, 2012 at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mr. Jessie E. Bates, age 69, of Carson, MS who passed away July 25, 2012 at his residence. Interment followed at Carson Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. R. T. Buckley officiated. Pall bearers were Jessie Bates, Jeff Bates, Dale Fairley, Martin Bates, Trent Bates, J. R. Boyd, Jonathon Fairley, Trent Broomfield and Jeremy Smith. A native of Jefferson Davis County, Jessie Edward Bates was born on March 15, 1943. He was the son of Rufus T. Bates Sr. and Ottie Skinner Bates. He worked as a River Boat Pilot on the Mississippi river for twenty one years. He later he drove a truck for sixteen years. He was a member of Carson Baptist Church. Mr. Bates is survived by his wife, Mary Bates of Carson, MS; his sons, Jessie L. Bates of McHenry, MS and Jeffrey Lee Bates of Silver Creek, MS; his daughter, Jennifer Lynn Bates of Carson, MS; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his brother, Tommy T. Bates of Carson, MS; his sisters, Wendy Fairchild of Hattiesburg, MS, Betty Fant and Darnell Parker both of Carson, MS, and Elizabeth Dunaway of Brandon, MS.
