Roland D. Mikell

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss for Mr. Roland Mikell, age 91, of Collins, MS who passed away April 22, 2012 at the Covington County Hospital in Collins, MS. Interment followed at Prentiss Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. Sessions Polk and Dr. F. W. Tripp officiated. Pall bearers were Ricky Smith, Burkett Mikell, Mark Robinson, Glen Mikell, Bill Abraham, John Logan, Mike Abraham and Chip Mikell. A native of Mississippi, Roland Dent Mikell was born on March 22, 1921. He was the son of Byron Buford Mikell and Mary Belle Mikell. He served in the US Army and was a veteran of World War II. He worked several occupations over his lifetime--with the Alaska Pipeline, as a driver for REA Express and a farmer. He was also a member of Prentiss United Methodist Church. Mr. Mikell is survived by his sons, Mike Mikell (JoAnn) of Port Gibson, MS and Dent Mikell (Theresa) of Poplarville, MS; his grandsons, Cody Mikell and Clay Mikell both of Poplarville, MS and his brother, Larue Mikell of Prentiss, MS.
