Austin Whitehead

Funeral services were held Friday, April 13, 2012 at Santee Baptist Church for Mr. Edd Austin Whitehead, age 90, of Bassfield, MS who passed away April 11, 2012 in Hattiesburg. Interment followed at Bethel Cemetery, Bassfield. Bro. Tony Bagley and Bro. Julian Davis officiated. Pallbearers were Michael Buckley, Greg Buckley, Tyler Lucas, Jason Lucas, Eddie Wayne Whitehead, and Toby Kirkley. Mr. Whitehead was born on March 10, 1922 in Marion County, MS. He was the son of Porter and Teresa Robbins Whitehead. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a self-employed Logger and a member of Santee Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters: Marilyn Buckley of Carson, MS and Janice Lee of Alexandria, LA; seven sons: Billy Ed Whitehead, Johnny Whitehead, Marshall Whitehead, Donald Whitehead, all of Sumrall, MS; Charles Whitehead, Bobby Whitehead and Tommy Whitehead, all of Bassfield, MS; 32 grandchildren, 50 great- grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, one brother and three sisters. Saulters-Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements.
