John Scott Hathorn

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mr. John Scott Hathorn, age 79, of Bassfield, MS who passed away April 8, 2012 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. Interment followed at the Bassfield Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. Steve Tillman officiated. Pall bearers were Eddie Morton, Kyle Highstreet, Jamie Shivers, Chuck Holland, William King, James Fagan, Josh Davis and Eddie Ryan. A native of Jefferson Davis County, John Scott Hathorn was born on September 2, 1932. He was the son of Ray Hathorn and Veda Puckett Hathorn. He worked with Production Credit in Hattiesburg for several years and was a farmer. He was a Deputy Commissioner with the Soil & Water Conservation Board of Jeff Davis County. He was a member of L. L. Roberts Methodist Church in Bassfield, MS. Mr. Hathorn is survived by his wife, Elsie Hathorn of Bassfield; his sons, Dr. Randy Hathorn of Prentiss, MS and Kim Hathorn of Carson, MS; his step-son, Don Harris Jr. of Houston, TX; his step-daughter, Karen Harris of Fayetteville, AR; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
