Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 15, 2012 at Collins Baptist Church in Collins, MS for Mrs. Jean Harvey, age 78, of Collins who passed away on March 26, 2012 at her residence following a lengthy illness. Interment followed at Collins City Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. Anthony O’Neal, Rev. John Sapp and Rev. James Smith officiated. Pall bearers were Noel Rogers, Paul Rogers, Jeff Rogers, Ronnie Harvey, Caleb Lancaster and Gordon Goss. Honorary pall bearers were the members of the Dorcas Sunday School Class. Mrs. Middie Jean Daughtrey Harvey was born on December 8, 1933 in Collins, MS. She was the daughter of Mid Daughtrey and Lorena Graham Daughtrey. She married Mr. Emmett Harvey on August 20, 1961. After completing high school, she attended Jones Junior College, USM and Ole Miss. She was a mathematics instructor at Jones Junior College for 35 years, retiring in 1998. She was also a student advisor for Phi Theta Kappa at Jones Junior College for 33 years and the Beta Club advisor at Collins High School for 6 years. She was an active member of Collins First Baptist Church and taught the Dorcas Sunday School Class for 45 years. Mrs. Harvey is survived by her husband of fifty years, Emmett Harvey of Collins, MS; her sons, Dr. Martin Harvey (Lisa) of Collins, MS and Lantz Harvey of New Orleans, LA; her grandchildren, Hannah Beth Harvey and Mary Catherine Harvey both of Collins, MS; her sisters, M. L. Daughtrey, Rachel McGowan and Annie Kay Rogers all of Collins, MS and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
