James Burnice Newsom, Jr.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mr. James B. Newsom, Jr., age 64, of Byram, MS who passed away March 10, 2012 at his residence. Interment followed at Whitesand Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. Michael Giles officiated. Pall bearers were Jay Newsom, Mark Daley, Donald Cole, Buddy Newsom, Derreck Dickerson and Alan Crawford. Mr. James “Jimmy” B. Newsom, Jr. was born on October 13, 1947 in Jefferson Davis County, MS. He was the son of James Burnice Newsom Sr. and Marie Bridges Newsom. He worked as a Superintendent with Georgia Pacific and St. Regis for thirty eight years before retiring. He was an avid hunter and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. He was also a member of Old Hebron Baptist Church. Mr. Newsom is survived by his son, Brandy Newsom of New Hebron, MS; his daughters, Stacey Miller of Locust Grove, GA and Stephanie Newsom of McDonough, GA; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Terry Newsom and Danny Newsom both of New Hebron, MS.
