November 21, 1929 — March 1, 2012

Mrs. Doris M. Rogers, age 82, of Prentiss, MS passed away March 1, 2012 at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital from complications of Congestive Heart Failure and Renal Failure. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Prentiss, MS. Interment followed at Oak Grove Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Dr. Ken Stringer, Bro. Terry Wallace and Bro. Jimmy McGee officiated. Pall bearers were Bill Abraham, Mike Abraham, Glenn Mikell, Mike Mikell, Dent Mikell, Larry Rogers, Mike Rogers and Burkett Mikell. A native of Jefferson Davis County, Doris Mae Mikell Rogers was born November 21, 1929. The youngest of eleven children, she was the daughter of Byron B. Mikell and Belle Benson Mikell. She was reared on her families’ dairy farm and her love for the farm and all its responsibilities were instilled in her from early childhood. After high school, she and Jimmy married and her love for farming and gardening continued to grow. She loved her family, friends and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and served as a church hostess for many years. Her contributions to her family, friends and church cannot be measured in words, for she was truly “One In A Million”. Mrs. Rogers is survived by her husband, James “Jimmy” Rogers, Sr. of Prentiss, MS; her daughters, Elaine Bridges of Brandon, MS, Kathryn Langston (Mac) and Joyce Hall all of Prentiss, MS, Nancy Coco (Mike) of Jackson, MS; her son, Rodney Rogers (Tiffany) of Houston, TX; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Larue Mikell of Prentiss, MS and Roland Mikell of Collins, MS and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, five sisters and her beloved, black Labrador retriever, Champ. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital, the Gideon Society or the Baptist Children’s Village.
