Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss, MS for Mrs. Elza Mae Gray, age 87, who passed away February 13, 2012 at Lawrence County Nursing Center in Monticello, MS. Interment followed at Cliburn Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. Chad Carney officiated. Pall bearers were Jason Dampeer, Larry Cole, Aaron Cole, Dereck Prestridge, Charles Mullins and Mark Cliburn. Mrs. Elza Mae Gray was born on April 19, 1924 in Lawrence County, MS. She was the daughter of James Dampeer and Nola Cliburn Dampeer. She owned and operated Gray’s Grocery for fifteen years. She was a member of Crooked Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Gray is survived by her sons, David Kinsman of McCalla, AL and Paul Kendall Herrington of Monticello, MS; two grandchildren, Paul Thomas Herrington and Kelly Brock Estep; and two great-grandchildren, Paul Thomas Herrington, Jr. and Mikayla Mae Herrington. She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands’, daughter, Teresa Lord, six sisters and four brothers.
