Mr. Joe Dorman, age 93, formerly of Harrisville, MS, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Saulters-Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss, MS. Interment followed at Whitesand Cemetery. Rev. Charles Burnham officiated. Saulters-Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Mr. Joe Dorman was born on August 21, 1918 in Monroe, Arkansas. He served in the US Army for the entire 4 years of World War II, in northern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe in Battery “B” 741st Field Artillery Battalion. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, along with several other medals for his service. Mr. Dorman was a heavy equipment operator after the war, retiring in 1980. He loved coon hunting, fishing, vegetable gardening and eating fried Mississippi catfish. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Dorman is survived by his daughters, Glenda Mitchem and Lynn Ficquette both of Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Minnie Dorman, and his wife, Agnes Dorman.
