Cathleen C. Parker

June 12, 1919 — November 12, 2011

“I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, (not Arkansas!) . . . to be content.” Mother’s version of Paul’s words carried her from this world to God’s throne on November 12, 2011. Cathleen (Clearman) Parker was born in Lamar County, MS in 1919. After marrying Howard S. (Jack) Parker, she moved to Prentiss – the next county – where they raised their three children and put down deep roots. A woman of strong faith; an English teacher (remember diagramming?); an artist; out-spoken (some would say opinionated); considerate and quietly generous; loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, Cathleen definitely left an impression on the lives of people she touched. Even after reluctantly moving to Arkansas, she remained a small-town country girl, though geographically displaced. She was met at Heaven’s gate by her parents Mack and Alice (Aultman) Clearman, siblings Bura, Herbert, Bernis Lee, and Helen (Clearman) Drennan, her husband Jack, and sons Thomas and James. Gathered with them were a host of friends and family who cheered at her arrival. Survivors include daughter Fran (Parker) Miller, Little Rock, AR; grandchildren Faran (Marty) Hearyman, Liann (Toby) Loftin, Jay (Lauren) Parker, Jill (Robbie) Armstrong, Marcus Parker, Neeka Parker, 9 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and daughters-in-law Debbie and Rachel. Cathleen’s life remains an example of how a short woman, with a firm voice and strong convictions, appreciative of God’s innumerable and quite unexpected blessings, can impact her home, children, church, community and even the world. So can we all. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Saulters Moore Funeral Interment followed at the Prentiss Cemetery. Dr. David Michel and Rev. Ben James officiated. Pall bearers were Herbie Clearman, Jeff Clearman, Joe Clearman, Jay Parker and Marcus Parker. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Cathleen’s honor to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering in care of Prentiss Baptist Church, P O Box 297, Prentiss, MS 39474. Online condolences and a guest registry are available at www.saultersmoorefuneralhome.com. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements
