Bernice Foil Warren

Mrs. Bernice Jane Foil Warren, age 101, of Pearl, MS and formerly of Prentiss, passed away on October 31, 2011. She was born on January 12, 1910 to John M. and Ella Yarborough Foil of the Dinan Community in Walthall County. She and her late husband, Willie M. Warren, were secretly married, graduated from USM and later taught school during the depression. In 1940, the Warrens moved to Prentiss, MS. Mrs. Warren was a charter member of Prentiss Methodist Church and active in the Women’s Circle. She was a member and held offices in a number of local women’s clubs. She was very active in the Prentiss Consolidated School PTA, serving as its President for many terms. She was a homeroom mother for her two children. A true southern lady, she always had a smile, positive attitude and a kind word for all those she met. We are so blessed to have been part of her life. Mrs. Warren is survived by her daughter, Patricia W. Logan of Birmingham, AL; her son, William C. Warren and wife Betty, of Brandon, MS; five grandchildren, Allen Logan (Lilly), Greg Logan (Kelly), Allison East (Scotty), Benjamin Warren (Elizabeth) and Will Warren; and five great-grandchildren, Lindsey Logan, Collier East, Ella East, Emily Warren and Braden Warren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Willie M. Warren, her sister, Helen F. Magee and her brother, Elton Foil. Funeral services were held Friday, November 4, 2011 at Saulters Moore Funeral Home in Prentiss, MS. Interment followed at the Prentiss Cemetery. Rev. Sessions Polk officiated. Pall bearers were Allen Logan, Greg Logan, Scotty East, Benjamin Warren, Will Warren and Collier East. The family offers special thanks to the staff at Wisteria Gardens, St. Dominic Hospital and Dr. David Sullivan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Batson Children’s Hospital, Jackson, MS or St. Jude Hospital for Children, Memphis, TN.
