Funeral services were held Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Victory Baptist Church in Bassfield, MS for Mr. Bertrum B. “Bill” Deen, age 72, of Bassfield, MS who passed away on October 19, 2011 at Regency Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. Interment followed at Military Baptist Church Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. Tommy Arinder, Rev. Frank Bishop, Rev. Tony Bagley and Rev. Charles Broom officiated. Pall bearers were Bo Bagley, W. L. Bagley, Hal Bullock, James Coulter, Jason Harvey, Earl Hathorn, Clifford Rutland and Jimmy Rutland. A native of Jefferson Davis County, MS, Bertrum Bernard Deen, better known as “Bill”, was born on February 18, 1939. He was the son of John Leslie Deen and Alpha Brown Deen. He worked with the Hattiesburg Fire Department and the State Forestry Service. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church and served as a deacon. He is survived by his wife, Faye Bynum Deen of Bassfield; his daughter, Pamela Deen Dye of Bassfield; a granddaughter, Vanessa King Hanegan and a great grandson, Brady Hanegan of Sumrall; and two sisters, Margie Deen Rosa of Mandeville, LA, and Joyce Deen Pierce of Carson, MS.
