Lula Shivers

Funeral services were held Sunday, August 14, 2011 at New Hebron Methodist Church for Mrs. Lula Shivers, age 95, who passed away August 11, 2011 at Simpson General Hospital in Mendenhall. Interment followed at Shivers Cemetery. Rev. Mike Dubose officiated. Pall bearers were Fred Sykes, Greg Jones, Al Berry, Ham Bush, Wayde Benson and Glen Turnage. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Mrs. Lula Donald Shivers was born on October 22, 1915 in New Hebron, MS. She was the daughter of S. S. Donald and Virginia Turnage Donald. She was a graduate of USM. She was a Teacher in the public schools and taught music for more than twenty five years. She was a member of New Hebron Methodist Church. She was the church Organist and taught Sunday School for many years. She is survived by her son Don Shivers of New Hebron, MS; two grandchildren, Heather Thomas and Bill Shivers; one great-grandchild, William Shivers; and one sister, Virginia Prentice of Ocala, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, V. P. Shivers and four brothers.
