A funeral mass was held Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Bassfield, MS for Mrs. Alice Fails, age 88, who passed away August 6, 2011 at her residence in Bassfield, MS. Interment followed at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Bassfield. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss is in charge of all arrangements. Father Michael Kelleher, Father Peter Varghese and Deacon Bob Everard officiated. Pall bearers were Kenny Ramb, Shaun Fails, Anthony Fails, Joseph Fails, Lee Kirby and James Fails. Honorary pall bearers were Cody Davis, Shae Waldrop, Kolby Waldrop and Doug Lee. A native of Jefferson Davis County, Alice Honoria Daley Fails was born on December 22, 1922. She was the daughter of Joe Daley and Vergie Kerley Daley. She attended Nursing School at St. Mary’s in Knoxville, TN and became a registered nurse. She worked as an RN at the Methodist Hospital in Hattiesburg for many years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church of Bassfield. She was an active member of her church and the Ladies Altar Society. Mrs. Fails is survived by her husband of many years, Jimmy Fails; her loving family—two daughters, Gayle Prentice and Rose Davis (Bobby); four sons, Dan Fails (Charlotte), Sid Fails (Vicky), Phil Fails (Margie) and Mark Fails (Laura) all of Bassfield, MS; sixteen grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Fred Fails, a granddaughter Bridget, three brothers and four sisters.
