Hayward Barrett

A funeral mass was held Monday, August 8, 2011 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Bassfield, MS for Mr. Hayward Barrett, age 71, of Prentiss, MS who passed away August 5, 2011 at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital in Prentiss, MS. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Father Peter Varghese officiated. Pall bearers were Mike Brown, Billy Kean, Bobby Odom, Danny Odom, George Parkman and Heath Skinner. Honorary pall bearers were Ladd Barrett and Perry Andrew Barrett Jr. A native of Jefferson Davis County, Hayward Roy Barrett was born on December 9, 1939. He was the son of Robert Barrett and Bessie Pace Barrett. He worked on the pipeline as a Welder for several years. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Mr. Barrett is survived by his wife, Dorothy S. Barrett of Prentiss, MS; five sons, Norbert Barrett of Purvis, MS, Jason Barrett of Sumrall, MS, Eric Barrett, Charlie Barrett and Perry Barrett all of Prentiss, MS; five grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Barrett and Johnny Barrett both of Carson, MS; and two sisters, Bobbie Hunter of Columbia, MS and Brenda Russell of Monticello, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
