Funeral services were held on Monday, May 2, 2011 at Saulters Moore Funeral Home in Prentiss, MS for Mrs. Gaye Branton, age 85, who passed away April 27, 2011 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Interment followed at Society Hill Cemetery in Oakvale, MS. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. Mark McArthur officiated. Pall bearers were Philip Bowen, Charles Langston, Stephen Langston, John Spears, Matt Sharpe and Carlos Langston. Rebecca Gaye Langston Branton was born September 21, 1925 in Pleasant Hill, LA. She was the daughter of Archie Dempsey Langston and Ida McElroy Langston. Upon graduation from high school, she attended Clark Business College in Jackson, MS. She worked in a parachute factory for a short time. Most of her working career was spent in the Insurance Business as a Property and Casualty Rater. She later worked at R. C. Wilkerson, Inc. in Vicksburg, MS, for thirteen years before retiring in 1986. She was a member of Society Hill Baptist Church in Oakvale, MS. Mrs. Branton is survived by her daughters, Jan Lefler and husband, John of Richland, MS, Emily Miller of Bossier City, LA and Rebecca Bass and husband, Robert of Long Beach, MS; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; a sister, Joye Spears of Clinton, MS; a brother, A. D. Langston and wife, Dot of Starkville, MS and many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ray Branton and two sisters, Ruth Bowen and Mildred Langston.
