Ford Shivers

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Old Hebron Baptist Church in New Hebron, MS for Mr. Henry Ford Shivers, age 88, who passed away April 6, 2011 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. Interment followed at Whitesand Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Rev. L. C. Anthony, Rev. Randy Gardner and Rev. Michael Giles officiated. Pall bearers were Bobby Shivers, Randy Shivers, Ricky Shivers, David Whitfield, John Shivers and Ronnie Shivers. A native of Jefferson Davis County, Henry Ford Shivers was born on November 18, 1922. He was the son of John Houston Shivers and Mattie Slater Shivers. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator on the Pipeline and was a twenty five year member of #624 Operating Engineers Union. He also enjoyed farming and was a member of Old Hebron Baptist Church. Mr. Shivers is survived by his wife, Kathryn Shivers of New Hebron; three sons, Billy Ford Shivers (Sue) and Joe Carroll Shivers (Gayle) all of Mobile, AL and Jerry Hugh Shivers (Ann) of New Hebron; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Whitfield of Hattiesburg, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Larry Shivers.
