Paula S. Speights

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Oakvale Baptist Church for Mrs. Paula S. Speights, age 75, of Columbia, MS who passed away March 27, 2011 at The Grove Nursing Center in Columbia. Interment followed in Oakvale Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Wade Barnes and Rev. Dudley Williamson officiated. Saulters-Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss handled arrangements. Pallbearers were Lance Speights, Joshua Speights, Bill Bullock, Bobby Smith, Wilson Dominque, and Tommy ‘Spook’ Evans. Mrs. Paula Sanders Speights was born on September 30, 1935 in Marion County, MS. She was the daughter of Roy Sanders and Elaine Brown Sanders. She worked as a Service Representative for Bell South Telephone Co. in New Orleans, LA. She was a member of Oakvale Baptist Church. Mrs. Sanders is survived by her husband, Alfred Speights of Oakvale, MS; three sons, Jeffrey Speights of Hammond, LA, Johnnie Speights and Brett Speights, both of Oakvale, MS; two brothers, Larry Sanders of Goose Creek, N.C. and Hall Sanders of Goodman, MS; three sisters, Sue Jearreau of Brusley, LA, Patricia Sanders and Helen Sweat, both of Columbia, MS, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.
