Grace Odum

Funeral services were held Monday, February 21, 2011 at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Grace Odum, age 92, of Prairieville, LA who passed away February 19, 2011 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Gonzales, LA. Interment followed at Old Silver Creek Cemetery. Rev. L. C. Anthony officiated. Saulters Moore Funeral Service of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements. Pall bearers were Russell Warner, Jeremy Odum, James Odum, Bobby Odum Jr., Bobby Pellegrin, Chad Pellegrin and Patrick Whelton. Grace Fortenberry Odum was born on July 8, 1918 in Jefferson Davis County, MS. She was the daughter of William D. Fortenberry and Eva Stringer Fortenberry. She worked for the New Orleans Public School District as a Cafeteria Manager for twenty five years before retiring. She was a member of Old Silver Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Odum is survived by her son, Larry Odum (Maxine) of Lumberton, MS; daughters, Ruth Warner (Robert) of Dallas, TX, Nell Busby (Everett) of Lumberton, MS, Linda Pellegrin (Allen) of Houma, LA, Deborah LaBiche (Charlie) of Covington, LA and Patricia Whelton (Mike) of Prairieville, LA; daughter in law, Gayle Odum of Covington, LA; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Pace of Prentiss, MS and brothers, Gerald Fortenberry and Bob Fortenberry both of Prentiss, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clyde Odum, a son, Bobby Odum, a grandson, five brothers and three sisters.
