Kathryn R. Slonaker

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Bunker Hill Baptist Church in Columbia for Mrs. Kathryn R. Slonaker, age 89, who passed away January 31, 2011 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Rev. Randy Gardner officiated. Interment followed at New Bunker Hill Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Service of Prentiss was in charge of arrangements. Pall bearers were Jeremy Slonaker, Doug Slonaker, Jed Slonaker, Jimmy McPhail, Jim T. Allen and J. D. Runnels. Kathryn Robbins Slonaker was born on December 14, 1921. Born in Marion County, Mississippi, she was the daughter of Buford Robbins and Vera Garner Robbins. Mrs. Slonaker graduated from USM in 1942. She taught school in Prentiss for two years before marrying her husband, Rev. E. J. “Jerry” Slonaker, and becoming a minister’s wife. She later worked as an Insurance Clerk for seven years with Nowell Funeral Home in Kosciusko. She was a member of Bunker Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Slonaker is survived by her husband, Rev. E. J. “Jerry” Slonaker, her sons, Clark Slonaker (Joyce) of Laurel, MS and Randy Slonaker (Kate) of Summit, MS; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a great grandson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bunker Hill Baptist Church--Building Fund at 63 Bunker Hill Road, Columbia, MS 39429.
